Sensor leader ams AG simplifies tunable white lighting and daylighting systems with the multi-award winning AS721x/722x smart lighting management family. This complete sensor-integrated system-on-a-chip delivers both higher precision and lower overall system costs and is designed for integration into luminaires as well as T-LED and PAR type replacement lamps. For compatibility with legacy controls systems and various driver types, the AS72xx SLMs accept standard 0-10V dimming inputs, and provide both 0-10V and PWM outputs. The serial UART interface and complete Smart Lighting Command Set enables rapid integration with standard networking and communications, with examples including BLE, WiFi, ZigBee, Ethernet and RS-485. An I2C interface provides sensor-hub expansion capabilities for added IoT flexibility. Non-networked versions allow the implementation of one BOM to support multiple CCT and lumen output SKU’s while meeting CA Title 24 and US EPA ENERGY STAR requirements.

For horticultural lighting applications, ams offers the AS7265x multi-spectral sensor, which delivers 18 VIS+NIR channels in a compact 3-chip set. Each of the 3 chips provides 6 independent on-device optical filters which combine of offer coverage from 410nm to 940nm with a FWHM of 20nm.
The system is able to monitor the spectral emission profile and brightness of the plant illumination in the luminaire or directly at the plants. Thanks to their spectral filter characteristic, the AS7265x sensors are able to monitor parameters like PAR between 400nm and 700nm, which describes the range of light frequencies plants require to perform photosynthesis. Furthermore, the spectral data of the sensors can be used for monitoring of the WPE the ratio of electrical and optical power of LEDs.
Overall, the closed loop control combined with the multi-spectral 18-channel AS7265x sensor chip-set enables horticultural lighting manufacturer’s development of full-automated lighting systems with features including:

•Automatic, closed loop spectral compensation of daylight influences
•Automatic circadian cycle management
•Automatic output balancing as LEDs drifts over lifetime and temperature
